eM8 Technology has been developed by Dr Phillip Tann and his team over a five year period. The company has researched and developed location based systems including GPS error correction algorithms. The technology has been patented worldwide.
Historically there are two major issues regarding GPS telemetry - GSM data transmission costs and GPS errors.
With regard to GSM data costs, eM8 have developed tracking specific network algorithms which provide rapid location updates and because of the way these data strings are effectively “compressed” a significant reduction in transfer costs is obtained. The result is, we provide per second real-time location data at a surprisingly low cost. In addition mobile network providers express concerns regarding multiple vehicles connecting to the same base antenna; this is with respect to limitations on the amount of data that can be transmitted through it at any one time. By compressing these data strings eM8 Technology helps to solve this problem.
The key problematic area of Global Positioning Systems is location error. These errors are caused mainly by dynamic atmospheric conditions or multipath signals from buildings. This has effectively limited traditional tracking devices to +-4 metres. Our aims led us to develop and file worldwide patented algorithms that reduce the error factors in vehicle tracking down to sub metre level and the optimum accuracy range from public frequency satellite signals to below 1 metre.
Five years of research and patented applications has resulted not only in the level of accuracy mentioned earlier but also in our ability to obtain speed accuracy to six decimal places. Because of this, many other attributes can be calculated including acceleration, deceleration and with respect to altitude, resistance effects of hill climbing and general driver behaviour can also be calculated.
